“Father forgive them for they don’t know what they do”. (Luke 23:34)
The depth and magnitude of the pain and shame of Jesus’ crucifixion did not stop him from the crown of the “Master of Divine Love.”
Jesus’ prayer was, “Father forgive…” . And that is what makes Jesus a Master and example worth emulating.
Those who had him killed were the elites of the time. “Father forgive them for they don’t know what they do”, means, I see and love each of these as extensions of the one life of God that I am.
Hence Jesus told you in Matthew 5:43-48 that:
“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, so that you may be children of your Father who is in heaven. For he makes his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward do you have? Do not even the unbelievers do the same? And if you greet only your brothers, what more are you doing than others? Do not even the Gentiles do the same? You therefore must be perfect, as your heavenly Father is perfect.”
Be like Jesus!
